Haiti "I Can Read" Sponsorship

Gift of the Bible for Prison Ministry

Your donation to this project through Swansboro United Methodist Church helps transform lives, make disciples, and empower Christians for outreach ministry.

The prison ministry of Swansboro UMC has been doing active mission work at Carteret Correctional Center in Newport, NC since 2006. Each student is given a gift of the NIV Life Application Study Bible which is ideal for our student/inmate classes as they become disciples of Jesus Christ. Your gift will go towards the purchase of this study Bible.

If you would like to donate in honor or memory of someone, an acknowledgement card can be sent. We will provide 1 card for each Bible ($30) donated. SUMM Peanuts (1 Case)

In 1986 the Swansboro United Methodist Men (SUMM) began cooking peanuts and they haven’t stopped! Our “Peanut Cookers” get together two or three times each month to cook, label, and package peanuts. The peanuts are sold through the church office, at many merchants in Eastern North Carolina, and via email and online orders throughout the world. The net proceeds (in excess of $25,000 annually) are donated to more than 55 local and worldwide missions, agencies, and needy individuals.

In addition to being a treat for all of us, they make wonderful gifts. Share the crunch and flavor with others and help our mission projects.

Ingredients: Peanuts, Peanut Oil & Salt  ***Unsalted peanuts are also available***
Each case contains twelve 7oz jars. Shipping weight 11.00 lb 

Please note for orders to be shipped: Orders received by Tuesday afternoon are shipped on Wednesday via FedEx. FedEx requires a phone number for the person receiving the shipment.

Collard Greens, Watermelons, and "Miss" Charlotte's Pie

Collard Greens, Watermelons, and "Miss" Charlotte's Pie is available locally and across the nation. The cookbook was inspired by two of our Swansboro United Methodist Women members and, with the aid of many of the SUMW ladies, the first printing came to fruition in 1993. It is now in its sixth printing. The book is a compilation of the “tried and true” recipes of our SUMW, their spouses and friends. The book not only contains wonderful recipes but also has many interesting historical tidbits about the area. This widely acclaimed cookbook enables the SUMW to generously support missions and ministries in our church and community.

SUMW Note Cards

Senior Pastor, Dr. Ed Gunter, did the wonderful pen & ink drawing of Swansboro United Methodist Church on the front of these notecards.

Each package includes 8 cards and 8 envelopes. Cards are 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".

Swansboro United Methodist Women are committed to missional giving for women and children. Monies raised on projects like our note cards could be directed to needs in Swansboro, Carteret and Onslow Counties, North Carolina, the United States or Internationally.

Local Artists Supporting Haitian Artisans for Peace and Development

Local artists have contributed photos and drawings of the Swansboro area for the Haitian Artisans for Peace Initiative. HAPI, with the support of the United Methodist Church, empowers artisans to work for a just and fair wage. They have no regular income in their mountainous community - an area where more than 70% live on less than $1/day, where there are no jobs, no electricity, no plumbing, and no water filtration. HAPI provides healthy and safe working conditions through a creative sustainable job program.

Each package includes 8 cards and 8 envelopes. Cards are 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

Haiti Goats for Sustainable Development

Goats in Haiti provide nutritious milk and also help the family gain self-reliance and dignity that everyone deserves. Your donation of $60 allows the Volunteers in Mission of Swansboro United Methodist Church to purchase one goat. (Or, you can donate a "share" of a goat for $10.)

From one of our volunteers:
"The people who had gathered there to receive a goat sang songs and prayed. It was a happy celebration and we all felt very overjoyed to be a part of it. They couldn’t seem to say “Merci! merci!” enough.

Then contracts were handed out to the 8 new goat owners. The contracts, signed by the new owner and witnessed by Pastor Lionel, said that the first born goat must be given away to someone without a goat. Only then would the goat truly belong to them."
